Garson and Cohen won a JDA competition in collaboration with MMA, in February 2010. The vision of a ‘central park’ for Johannesburg was the driver of this competition. The vast tract of railway land is largely unused and the rehabilitation of this as a ‘Railway Park’ was our central idea. Our proposal aimed at linking the City and Braamfontein through the creation of an ‘urban tapestry’ with park areas of varied characters.
